Emerging Artists of the New Art Era

This year’s fair places a spotlight on the young contemporary art scene through the discerning eye of David-Hervé Boutin, an art enthusiast and founder of the communications consultancy l’Art dans la Ville. Boutin has a decade-long history of promoting lesser-known French talents and initiating successful artistic projects.

The fair’s artistic committee has requested him to present a focus on talented young artists: Barbana Bojadzi, Louis Lanne, Morgane Ely, and Karolina Orzelek.

Barbana Bojadzi explores the memory of gesture through the accumulation of layers of color and texture, employing construction materials like silicone and spray paint. Her technique celebrates used and reclaimed materials, reflecting the humility and simplicity present in her artistic work. She was also honoured with the Prix Sisley 2023 for young artistic creation.

Louis Lanne expertly reimagines everyday objects, creating a bridge between nostalgia and contemporary utility. He paints on a whiteboard with metallic borders, deviating from the conventional wooden frame, resulting in spontaneous strokes that give the impression of freeform doodles. The paint’s unpredictable drying process adds depth to his creations.

Morgane Ely delves into the world of blockbuster characters, Pop Culture icons, and reality TV stars. By reimagining their destinies, often suppressed by male domination, she endows them with heroic qualities, setting them up as goddesses and warriors. Her unique approach, influenced by Japanese printmaking and wood engraving, grants her prints a strikingly lifelike appearance.

Karolina Orzelek reconstructs suspended moments and timeless places, revealing their strangeness through vibrant colors. Her art revolves around preserving fleeting moments and safeguarding the small but meaningful aspects that enrich an authentically lived life. It’s a reservoir of strength and solace, drawing from cherished memories, offering respite in the face of life’s challenges. Karolina Orzelek was awarded the Prix Sisley – Beaux-Arts de Paris for Young Creation in 2020.
