Is there a Cold War between sports and fashion or is fashion just better ? It’s a question that was never answered until now…

June 23th, 2024, is a date to remember in the world of fashion. Indeed, Vogue World took place in the city of love: Paris. As sports and fashion were being brought together, 180 athletes, 151 models, 70 dancers and an orchestra were in Place Vendome to perform one of the most iconic shows of the century.

But what makes this event so special ? Picture this: the glamour, the drama, the iconic fashion moments that left Paris buzzing for weeks. If you missed it, don’t worry; I’ve got all the juicy details you crave.

Here are some of the most fascinating moments from the show that we all got to watch thanks to Vogue.

A Night for the History Books

From the moment the first stilettos hit the floor, it was clear this wasn’t just another fashion event – it was the event. Forget gold medals, these stars were after the ultimate prize: being the best dressed.

The opening ceremony accompanied with the Daft Punk song “Around the World” showcased the french singer Aya Nakamura in custom Jean Paul Gaultier. Following her, we got to see the first flock of models in Chanel dresses that were first published in Vogue in 1924. It’s an homage to the roaring 20s or as the french know it “the crazy years”.

It’s times like these that leave me speechless, when the line between fashion and art is blurred. This event proved that fashion is not just clothes, it’s art, it’s movement. It’s fascinating to see how people can come together to celebrate art in all forms. The event was divided into sections, each section representing a decade from the 1900s. Every single detail was thought of from the clothes of the dancers to the choreography.

Now, brace yourselves for the most dramatic entrance, an evening already dripping in opulence and extravagance. Just when we thought the night couldn’t get any more glamorous, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid arrived on horseback to Place Vendome covered in custom Hermes from head to toe, or should I say head to hoof?

The Vogue World show in Paris was a mesmerising blend of high fashion, artistic expression, and cultural celebration, culminating in a grand finale that left attendees in awe. The closing ceremony was a testament to Vogue’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion and entertainment, featuring an array of stunning designs that highlighted the creativity and innovation of the world’s leading designers. The evening ended with an electrifying performance by global superstar Bad Bunny. His dynamic presence and infectious energy brought the crowd to their feet, creating an unforgettable atmosphere that perfectly encapsulated the essence of the event.
